Final Ancillary Designs

Final Ancillary Designs

Now that we have finished making our music video, we have returned to thinking about our ancillary tasks. We were hesitant to do this before we finished the video because we were considering relating the digipak and advert to the images in it. But now that we have completed it, we have returned to thinking about our final designs.

We have decided that we want our digipak and advert to have synergy with each other, but less so with the video. Looking at our designs, we were particularly drawn to these two as we liked the images and thought they linked well to each other, so decided to base our digipak and advert around them:

Although both images were initially advert designs, we decided they would look good on the digipaks so decided to use them for that instead. We chose the first design to be the cover but edited the design slightly, removing the music notes and making the heart and artist name bigger. We also decided to put the album name at the bottom in a different font. We chose the second picture for the inside as there was a sense of synergy between the two and we wanted to have an engaging image on the inside of our digipak. For the back, we decided to continue the veins from the front and have them at the sides, with a track list in the middle. We wanted the actual disk to be simple, just a white background with black font on it. Behind the disk we decided to have the lyrics to rearrange in a prose form in the same font as the text on the disk. Below is the design for this:

For the advert we would go for quite a plain design as the digipak is quite complex. This would allow the main focus of the advert to be the digipak, the thing we want to advertise. We would keep it quite basic, simply stating the artist's name, the title and any important information about buying it.
